Some are nice-to-haves, but many more are staples of dental practices, improved over time. Regardless of what booths you meander past, be sure to find your way to Planmeca. Today, one of the largest privately held dental manufacturers globally sets the stage to be a real player in the CAD/CAM space. With the new Planmeca FIT system, dental practices have everything they need to make single-visit dentistry a reality in their office. While intraoral scanning and chairside mills are not new technology, the latest from Planmeca makes them easy to attain and implement so doctors can begin enjoying the benefits to both the practice and the patients. “I’ve been a beta tester of new CAD/ CAM technology for many years,” said Dr. William Flora, a busy general dentist in Elkhart, Ind. Flora and his team have recently tested Planmeca’s new FIT system, which includes the new PlanMill 35 chairside mill and enhanced Planmeca Emerald S intraoral scanning software. His findings are more than positive. “I’ve been a fan of Planmeca’s mills for years. I have an original PlanMill 40 and PlanMill 30 S that are still in use today — they are workhorses that keep going. I expect the same will ring true for this new mill. I’ve been milling zirconia, glass and hybrid ceramics on this mill, and I have no complaints. The final restorations are beautiful, including the fit. I haven’t had to make adjustments at all. The accuracy is spot on. I can also easily switch from wet to dry milling with a flip of a switch if I use a different block material. “The Emerald S scanner is improved too. It’s really fast. My assistants have had no issues scanning a full mouth in a matter of minutes. Even my new hire is scanning like a pro. I think this is a great system,” he said. The impact of incorporating CAD/ CAM technology is profound. Patients are starting to expect conveniences 5 Planmeca’s new PlanMill 35 chairside mill. (Photos/Provided by Planmeca) Here in Atlanta To learn more about the Planmeca FIT system and other Planmeca products, stop by booth No. 1115. from their dentists, such as coming in for a crown and leaving with the final restoration. They’re also looking for a practice that can handle all their needs, from orthodontics to implants. Having this technology makes these and so much more possible. As for the practice, having a CAD/ CAM system is one of those investments that pays for itself. Just ask a representative for an ROI analysis. If you decided this was the year to take the plunge, they can take your practice data and show you what your potential savings could be. So enjoy the Hinman Dental Meeting, check out the latest types of cement, get your free toothpaste but take some time to investigate practice-transforming technology by stopping by Planmeca’s booth, No. 1115. The Planmeca FIT system is well priced, and the impact on your practice is immediate and lasting. And what if you were able to find a new solution to help you treat those high-risk caries or problem patients? Now consider if that technology was designed to last for the lifetime of the restoration itself. What is Infinix? Infinix, a new line of advanced antimicrobial restorative materials from Nobio, just launched in February in the United States. The Infinix family consists of a universal composite, a flowable composite and a universal bonding system (prime and bond) — all with QASi Antimicrobial technology. Infinix composites are the first FDA-cleared composites scientifically proven to kill bacteria and reduce demineralization and secondary caries, according to the company. 5 (Illustrations/Provided by Nobio) Here in Atlanta To see Nobio’s Infinix products and to learn more, stop by the booth, No. 816. The science behind Infinix The antimicrobial technology behind Infinix arises from basic nanomaterial research initiated more than 10 years ago in Israel’s Haddasah School of Dental Medicine. The antimicrobial activity is provided by proprietary, quaternaryammonium silica (QASi) particles. These QASi particles electrostatically attract cariogenic pathogens, killing them on contact by shredding the bacteria’s outer membrane. The covalently bound particles are insoluble, non-leaching and nonreleasing. Nothing harmful or toxic interferes with normal healthy flora in the oral cavity, and they are designed to be long lasting, with nothing to be recharged or replenished, according to the company. The QASi particles are incorporated into dental materials and become part of the polymerized restoration upon curing. Infinix in your hands “Studies have shown that a traditional composite can only be expected to last about five years on average,” said Dr. John Flucke, practice owner and chief technology editor of Dental Products Report. “Composites have come a long way, but the one thing we continue to battle is recurrent decay.” Flucke was the first dentist in the U.S. to use Infinix in his office. “In terms of handling and esthetics, Infinix measures up very well to leading composites.
