The future of teeth
whitening is here
By GLO Science Staff
n Teeth whitening, according to
a recent survey conducted by the
American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, is the most requested cosmetic dental procedure in the United
States.
Today, we can see that those
advancements can make professional
strength, in-office teeth whitening a
huge revenue generator in dental
practices, all while making patients
love their smile.
For many U.S. dental practices and
DSOs, however, there is a perceived
risk of teeth whitening causing sensitivity and, in turn, the practice receiving complaints from its patients.
There is also a concern that teeth
whitening can be time consuming,
with some procedures taking as long
as 1.5 hours to 2 hours per patient.
Teeth whitening has come a long
way, and there are new options available to utilize the value of teeth whitening in dental practices and DSO’s.

Change for the brighter
and better

GLO Science, a doctor-led, professional brand, is eliminating traditional “bulky-lamp” whitening treatments with its high-tech closedmouth system and handheld unit that
reaches the optimal temperature to
get smiles up to 12 shades whiter,
without causing dehydration, zingers,
sensitivity or rebounding.
Patients are leaving the dental
office with an instantly improved
smile and greater satisfaction.
Additionally, the average chair
time required for traditional teeth
whitening is anywhere between 1.5
to 2 hours. With GLO’s state-of-the-art,
in-office, 16-minute treatment, offices
are now able to seamlessly fit highdemand whitening treatments into
office workflow.
GLO also provides hermetically
sealed syringes and vials that do
not require refrigeration or trays for
application. GLO is also gluten free,
vegan, cruelty free, recyclable, and
proudly made in the United States.

The clear benefits of offering a
new kind of whitening

While patient satisfaction is of the
utmost importance for dental practices, GLO reports that dental offices
are directly benefiting from offering
this new kind of whitening in many
other ways, namely a much higher
rate of case acceptance and both
acceptance and improved compliance in clear aligner treatment plans.
Given the popularity of, and high
request for, clear aligners, GLO conducted studies to examine the effect
of pairing teeth whitening with clear
aligner therapy. The studies showed
more patients accept clear aligner
cases when teeth whitening is offered,
and this is often in lieu of discounting
the cost of the treatment.
Furthermore, the studies showed
that when patients’ teeth had been
whitened at the beginning of clear
aligner therapy, there was more compliance and less complaints from the
patients. Seeing whiter and brighter

teeth while the patients are waiting
for their clear aligner trays to arrive
to begin their treatment made them
more excited about their pursuit of
the “perfect smile.”
More than 90 percent of patients
reported they loved their whiter smile
so much, they wore their trays for
longer and complained less about
treatment time because they adhered
to their individualized aligner treatment plan.
Whiter smiles, as it turns out, is the
perfect pairing for straighter smiles.

Future of teeth whitening is at
home too

GLO does more than give your patients
their whitest, brightest smiles with
every session in the dental chair
— it has developed two advancements
in professional-strength, take-home
teeth whitening that help patients
keep their smile going between visits.
Patients can keep their smile going
with sensitivity-free at home treat-

ment. Offering a dual source of whitening to patients, in essence, doubles
the dental offices’ whitening revenue
and helps to keep the patients’ teeth
whiter longer.
It is time for everyone to get GLOing
with most advanced teeth whitening
technology for both in-office and takehome treatments, which ensures the
best experience and helps create
patient loyalty, for life.
With every challenge traditional
teeth whitening presents — from
lengthy chair-side time to sensitivity
and rebounding — GLO’s new way of
whitening has answered the call, giving patients and practices a brighter,
whiter future.

STELLAR materials at the
forefront of implant surgery
with a Taubicolored Elixirs twist
By TAUB Products Staff
n All-on-X immediate and delayed
load full arch guided surgeries have
become the pinnacle procedure in
implant full mouth smile reconstruction. Full arch guided surgeries offer
a patient with an otherwise non-existent smile the ability to have a confidence-inspiring smile with excellent
occlusion and alignment.
A guided surgery is not inexpensive to the patient. It has a price tag
where the patient will expect the
very best components and materials
are used, for the very best results.
If the patient comes back because of
PMMA denture fractures at the cylinder interface, in the middle of the
healing phase, not only is the patient
upset but the labor and time to fix the
issue and reseat the healing denture
will seriously affect the overall profit,
patient confidence, doctor confidence
in material resin choice and predictable outcomes of the procedure.
STELLAR DC Acrylic is a revolutionary, dual cure PMMA pick-up and
conversion resin with amazing cure
speed and unsurpassed durability,
according to TAUB Products, the company behind the resin. It can speed
up the pick-up and conversion time by
30-plus minutes.
STELLAR offers “rock hard” durability and won’t fracture throughout
the healing phase, when used as
directed, according to the company.
STELLAR DC Acrylic resin is great
for picking up immediate load dentures, overdenture attachments, hard
relines, creating implant verification
jigs and more. It can be tack cured in
eight to ten seconds, fully light cured
in 20 seconds and will cure on its own
in 120 seconds. It provides the fastest
production time of any acrylic, has no
noticeable shrinkage, has no polymerization heat during cure and no tension after cure, the company asserts.
If you’re looking for a longer selfset version, the STELLAR Attachment resin is specially formulated
for picking up “locator” overdenture
attachments. Utilizing very similar
technology to STELLAR DC Acrylic,
the STELLAR Attachment offers a
four-plus minute self set time. This
gives ample working time to position

and pick-up multiple overdenture
attachments at once.
The latest addition to the STELLAR
family, STELLAR Glaze LC Liquid, is a
light cure PMMA clear glaze for sealing and creating a luster on acrylic
and composite prosthesis and resin
teeth. Using blue wavelength LED at
470 nm, full curing takes place in 30
seconds.
It is specially formulated to chemically cure without a bonding agent to

3-D printed and milled try-ins, immediate load full arch temps and longterm full arch temps. Applying STELLAR Glaze LC Liquid after pick-up and
conversion for all chairside conversion arches allows the material to flow
into and seal any microgaps.
STELLAR Glaze seals porous
PMMA and other resins and increases
long-term integrity and durability
of the prosthesis. STELLAR GLAZE
LC Liquid works over STELLAR DC

Acrylic and other pickup resins.
“With more than 1,300 cases per
month, the STELLAR family of PMMA
Acrylics are a game changer for pickup and conversions of immediate
load temporary restorations and locator overdenture attachments,” said
Jordan Taub, vice president at TAUB
Products. “Using our chemistry and
technology, the CDT, super GP and
periodontist now have an ultra-durable, fast-setting, no heat, no noticeable
shrinkage acrylic that dramatically
reduces production times.”
For doctors and labs that are 3-D
printing dentures in house, Larry’s
Magical Denture Elixirs, or L.M.D.
Elixirs for short, provide fast Taubicolored gingival stains that give an
excellent match to current denture
base shades, according to the company.
The elixirs can be used for try-ins,
immediate load PMMA temp dentures and more. Two to three coats on
the gingival surface of the arch will
turn a monolithic milled or printed
A0, A1, A2 or B1 arch into light pink,
light reddish pink, original pink or
dark/meharry. With just 20 seconds
air dry per coat, Larry’s Magical Denture Elixirs can save you money and
an average of one hour per arch in
processing time over gingival shade
composites, the company asserts.
TAUB has a new cement for final
full arch restorations, focusing on
bonding ceramics, titanium and zirconia. It will be available for demonstration.
Come visit TAUB at booth No. 2908.
You can check out a demonstration,

lesions can be treated in the same
patient. The chairside procedure is
completely pain-free and does not
require anesthesia or strict isolation
techniques.
The formulation works on all surfaces and is nonstaining and can thus
be used on all teeth, including those
in the esthetic zone. Furthermore, it
is tasteless. For all these reasons, it

is well received by patients, particularly children.
Apart from the benefits it brings to
patients, it is easy for the clinician to
learn how to use and has seen quick
acceptance by dental professionals
everywhere. Practices also view it as
an untapped growth opportunity.
The procedure can be done by any
dental professional, and it is often the

hygienist who performs it after confirmation of the diagnosis by a dentist.
This synergy within the dental team
increases hygiene production while
saving the dentist chair time and
empowering the hygienist to work at

n The Hinman Dental Society has
announced that it will award $138,000
in scholarships and gifts to dental
education schools and programs this
year. Included in this amount is
$108,000 in scholarships and $30,000
to the University of Tennessee Hinman Research Symposium.
The Hinman Dental Society has
been granting scholarships since
1986. Recipients are selected by the

“The Hinman Trustees are pleased
to support this year’s senior class
with a $500 scholarship for each student. We appreciate the participation
from our members and attendees at
the 2023 Hinman Dental Meeting.
Because of the success of the meeting,
we are able to make these gifts possi-

ble,” said Dr. Brad Greenway, chair of
the board of trustees.
The Hinman Trustees will also
grant $36,000 in scholarships to
additional Southeast dental, Georgia
hygiene and Georgia assisting schools
and provide $30,000 to support the
28th Hinman Student Research Sym-

posium at the University of Tennessee
from Nov. 10 to 12.
The Hinman Student Research
Symposium is a national meeting
that features oral and poster presentations of research studies by dental
students and graduate trainees from
dental schools across North America
and Canada. The goal of the symposium is to help raise and maintain the
quality of dental research and education in the United States by encouraging participation of dental students,
graduate trainees and dental school
faculty in research to improve oral
health care globally.
