Yankee meeting in Boston offers
education, products for endodontists

A
t the 2013 Yankee Dental Congress, held Jan. 30 to Feb. 2
in Boston, there was plenty
of continuing education and
product selections for endodontists.
Leading experts in the field offered
lectures, and a number of companies
showcased their latest selections.
An endodontic specialty symposium
on regenerative endodontics was conducted by Dr. Kenneth Hargreaves. He
covered the steps in tissue engineering
and how they apply to the pulp-dentin
complex, the clinical principles needed
for regenerative endodontic procedures,
and the clinical outcomes of successful
procedures.
Hargreaves also presented a course
on managing endodontic infection,
covering the growing recognition of
various bacterial strains to current antibiotics.
Dr. Martin Trope offered a lecture titled
“Update in Modern Endodontics: From
Theory to Practice,” covering the different approaches for vital vs. necrotic cases,
minimal apical sizes, a review of irrigation protocols including ultrasonic activation, and indentification of root fillings
with bonded systems.
Trope also presented “The Practice of
Modern Endodontics,” a lecture sponsored by Brasseler USA on achieving
adequate apical sizes using the proper
files. The lecture also covered bioceramic-bonded filling materials.
The meeting featured a selection of
“Minuteman Lectures” on various topics,
including “Complex Endodontic Treatment” by Dr. Elizabeth Jones and “Management of Endodontic Complications”
by Dr. Rebekah Lucier.
On the exhibit hall floor, companies
offering supplies and equipment for endodontic treatment included SS White,
Coltene, Essential Dental Systems (EDS),
Aseptico and many more.

Essential Dental Seminars expands C.E. curriculum
For the past 15 years, Essential Dental
Seminars has been presenting research
and lectures in the field of endodontics.
Essential Dental Seminars is now expanding its C.E. curriculum to include
the latest research, studies, practice
management techniques and the tools
dentists need to succeed.
The upcoming expanded course syllabus includes “What the Taxpayer Relief
Act Means to Your Practice,” presented by
Joel Burstein, CPA. In this course, dental
professionals will learn the new requirements and reporting practices mandatory for all dentists, along with the effects
they will have on the dental professional,
the practice, employees and the budget,
and why purchasing products in 2013
will cost dentists at least 2.3 percent
more. This course is intended to teach
dental professionals ways to be proactive
and combat these changes. The course
will take place Friday, April 26, from 9 to
11 a.m. at Essential Dental Seminars, 89
Leuning St., South Hackensack, N.J.
Dr. Fiona M. Collins will present “A Walk
Through the Cycle of Infection Prevention”
on Wednesday, May 15, at the Courtyard
San Diego Mission Valley in California. This
lecture will teach students step by step how
to protect a practice from infection, and
about the myths of infection prevention.
Students will learn the necessary steps to
keeping a sterile dental environment.

needles, syringes to Calasept Endo line
