Celebrate orthodontic staff on June 1
Team members are essential to the success of most practices. To that end, the
AAO wants to help celebrate their accomplishments with Orthodontic Staff Appreciation Day, scheduled for June 1.
This important recognition offers AAO
members the opportunity to demon-

strate how important the orthodontic
team is to the orthodontists they serve
alongside as well as to the patients and
families who enter each practice.
On June 1, be sure to tag the AAO in
any Orthodontic Staff Appreciation
Day posts on social media. You can con-

nect with the AAO on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn. Be sure to use
the hashtag #OrthoStaffAppreciation.
Posts that tag the AAO or use the
hashtag may be featured in future promotional materials, including on social
media, the AAO member website and

other AAO publications.
In addition, make sure to check the
AAO website, www2.aaoinfo.org, for ideas
and signage to help celebrate the staff in
your practice.

Get repositioned with the Ultima Hook

Ormco announces launch of
the first and only repositionable
hook on the market

To learn more about Ormco’s new Ultima Hook,
the first and only repositionable hook, developed
specifically for the Ultima wire, stop by the booth,
No. 3617.

By Ormco Staff

Ormco Corporation, a global leader
and innovator of orthodontic products
and solutions, launches Ultima Hook,
the first and only repositionable hook,
developed specifically for the Ultima
wire.
Designed and engineered to correct
maloccluded teeth in conjunction with
orthodontic appliances, Ultima Hooks:
• Are the only repositionable hooks
on the market today and can be repositioned up to three times.
• Are pre-placed on the wire, saving
time for clinicians and staff.
• Can be placed flush to the bracket.
• Are made from NiTi, which provides
super elastic properties (shape memory).
“Our commitment to making technological breakthroughs to assist orthodontists and provide the best care for
their patients has never wavered,” said
Joe Glauberman, senior global product
manager of Ormco. “Offering the first

and only repositionable hook on the
market today, we are thrilled to give our
doctors another weapon in their arsenal.”
He added: “The advanced design of the
Ultima Hook simplifies the treatment
process for our orthodontists. These preplaced hooks on Damon and Ultima arch
wires can be easily slid into position, al-

lowing doctors to save on their investment through efficiencies.”
The Ultima Hook is the latest in advancements of the Damon Ultima System. The snap-fit hooks are placed onto
the arch wire intraorally and can be
placed flush against the bracket. A supporting instrument is provided to move
the hook along the wire, the only hook

designed for the Damon Ultima System
Wire.
With the unique design of the Damon
Ultima System, orthodontists now have
more precise control to move teeth more
efficiently with less forces for faster finish times and overall better patient comfort, according to the company.
“I am thrilled with the design and performance of the hook and instrument,
allowing a simple slide into place on the
pre-placed wire. The first time I used
the new hook system I was amazed with
the precise and secure positioning and
repositioning abilities,” said Dr. Stuart
Frost. “Not only am I saving on inventory
space, the value add is incredible because
the hook is able to be repositioned up to
three times. With pre-placement of the
hook and all elastic procedures being
patient controlled, appointment time for
myself and staff is greatly reduced, saving my practice revenue.

Is it time to evolve
your practice?
AI-powered remote
monitoring can help
clinicians take extra
care of patients who
need it the most
By Dental Monitoring Staff

When the world is getting more connected by the second, what is orthodontics doing to keep up?
We are becoming more comfortable
with the idea that technology, specifically advances in AI and machine learning,
are inextricable and beneficial aspects
of modern life — our daily commutes
are governed not by backroads and our
memory of what is “usually” the fastest
way; now we have machine learningbased algorithms show us in real-time
where the traffic is building.
But in orthodontics, the axiom of
“good enough” is stifling the possibilities of these same efficiencies in our
industry. And the fact remains: “good
enough” just won’t cut it anymore. Especially not when the solutions to increase
provider capabilities, engage patients directly and apply the institutional knowledge trapped inside the physical walls of
a practice exist today.
AI-powered remote monitoring serves
as one of the most important breakthroughs in the way that dental professionals can provide care to their patients,
expanding their clinical control during
braces and aligners treatments further
beyond what was capable a decade ago.
Even the most basic of remote monitoring systems can increase points of
contact with a patient, ensuring that
providers are up to date on orthodontic
cases between in-office appointments.
A simple messaging platform like that
would be good — but still a half measure.
When backed by artificial intelligence,
these remote monitoring platforms
transform into powerhouses of capability by empowering providers with even
greater insights, according to Dental

Monitoring. The company’s AI-powered
remote monitoring solution is capable
of detecting and monitoring more than
130 oral observations, giving providers
the full strength of remote monitoring’s
capabilities in a provider- and patient-

friendly interface: a smartphone app
and a web-based platform.
Why make the change? While some
practitioners hold onto the past, others have utilized DentalMonitoring to
evolve their practices and businesses
into modern care centers.
Instead of wasting resources — time,
staffing, clinical equipment — on the
patients who may not need an adjustment, providers who use AI-powered
remote monitoring can take extra care

of the patients who need it the most and,
just as importantly, allow the patients
well on track to continue their treatment
without making a costly trip to the practice.
Synchronizing the delivery of care
with the need of care seemed like a fantasy when most practitioners got out of
orthodontic school. But today, those capabilities are ready to become the reality
of dental professionals willing to let go of
the past and embrace today.
